Qigong is the practice of cultivating qi (chee), life-force energy.

Mental focus and physical movements reach far and embody qualities of softness, slowness and continuousness with a gentle happiness. Like a spider drawing a fine thread of her web, stronger than steel yet soft as silk.

The mind directs the qi, and qi follows the mind.

There are said to be five different forms of qigong: medical, martial, Taoist, Confucianist and Buddhist. For example, TaiJi and Iron Shirt are forms of martial qigong with spiritual qualities and Soaring Crane is medical qigong with spiritual qualities.

Most practice aims to protect pre-natal qi and build post-natal qi;
open blockages and soothe flow so that qi is allowed to move naturally throughout the body.

In peaceful calm, void and emptiness,
the authentic qi flows easily.
Essences and spirits are kept within.
How could illness arise?
